Tickets sold out…WTF!

21 Feb

ImageThis weekend Miami is hosting one of the nation’s largest celebrations of food and wine, The Food Network South Beach Wine & Food Festival. This four-day event brings together thousands of people from all over the world. Boasting a star-studded guest list including award winning chefs and celebrities, the festival will offer attendees an opportunity to enjoy a wide variety of the finest haute-cuisine tastings. The good news is you don’t have to be a foodie or a wine connoisseur to enjoy the Festival. With events planned all around the city ranging from 3* Michelin extravaganzas to late night after party bites, everyone is bound to find something fitting for their taste buds. The bad news? As with any nationally famed event, the tickets are mostly sold out. However, there are still a number of available exciting events you shouldn’t miss if you’re in Miami this weekend.

Probably one of the most legendary events of the grand opening is Moet Hennessy’s “The Q” on Thursday night.

Image

This year it will feature signature BBQ themed dishes by the best chefs from around the world paired by various Moet Hennessy specialty cocktails. The party is to be hosted by the renowned chef, Michael Symon and a couple of supermodels featured in the 50th anniversary edition of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue. Tickets are sold out on the festival’s website but can still be purchased here:

If you can’t make the daytime events but find yourself craving a late night snack, check out the midnight event Pubbelly will be hosting. What could be better than trying a pork belly medianoche with bacon-wrapped dates and chorizo created by Chef Jose Mendin? Trying it for free! This event is perfect for those who are looking to be a part of the festivities on a budget. Pubbelly will be showcasing Jose Mendin’s creations from 12 – 2am on Friday, February 20th. Make sure you send your RSVP to smithfield@hunterpr.com and get there early as the rules of the free food game call for first come first serve. Just like last year, the Burger Bash hosted by Rachel Ray is sold out. However, there are still tickets available for “Burgers and Binoculars”, an event that will take place at the Ritz-Carlton in South Beach. Attendees are invited to enjoy burgers on the beach while using their complimentary binoculars to sneak a better peak at all the A-list attendees. The event will be held on Friday, February 21st from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Craving something sweet? Why not treat yourself to an afternoon at the Ritz-Carlton getting educated on the art of macaroon making? If you are more of an eater then a chef, just go and eat the macaroons that the chefs in training are preparing while you pretend to cook. This go-to gourmet dessert has won over the hearts of millions of foodies around the world. Go see what all the fuss is about at the degustation presented by pâtissier Francois Payard. If the macaroons alone don’t win you over, the impeccable wine pairings presented by sommelier Josh Wesson sure will. A perfect post-brunch stop offering the two essential components of a great Sunday: fine wine and forgetting about your diet. #yolo so hurry and get your ticket here:

Learn About An Exciting Festival to Look Forward to This Weekend

12 Feb

One of the best things about living in Miami is enjoying its vibrant cultural scene. Not a week goes by without some sort of festival, event, or other celebratory occasion going on somewhere in this sprawling metropolis. In fact, this coming weekend alone will see one of the most unique and exciting festivals of the year.

This President’s Day Weekend, from February 15th through 17th, the lovely community of Coconut Grove will hosting its 51st Annual Coconut Grove Arts Festival, which offers nearly one mile of arts, crafts, food, and entertainment, running along the streets of McFarlane Road, South Bayshore Drive and Pan American Drive.  Gates open at 10am and close at 6pm. General admission is $15 per person per day, while Coconut Grove residents pay $5 per person per day with proof of residency. Children 12 and under, as well those with either Patriot Passport or Metrorail Golden Passports, receive free admission.

The Coconut Grove Arts Festival is one of the biggest annual events in South Florida, and is recognized as among the top five art festivals in the country. It showcases the artwork of over 360 artists from around the world, while giving members of the burgeoning local art scene a chance to display their work to the thousands of local and out-of-state collectors who visit each year. The wide variety of art genres that are showcased include mixed media, painting, photography, digital art, printmaking & drawing, watercolor, claywork, glass, fiber, jewelry and metalwork, sculpture and wood.

The Coconut Grove Arts Festival is produced by the Coconut Grove Arts and Historical Association, a non-profit community organization that also maintains the Coconut Grove Arts Festival Gallery and the HunterGallery, which present special exhibitions throughout the year from its location at Mayfair, Coconut Grove. Proceeds from the festival help to fund year-round arts programs that help young Miami-Dade art students continue their art education.

Since the first festival in 1963, the association has awarded more than $100,000 in scholarships to students who attend fine arts programs in local schools. Additionally, the festival also stimulates the local economy by attracting tourists and providing a spillover of visitors to Coconut Grove’s commercial venues, such as those on CocoWalk.

Needless to say, this is one event you shouldn’t miss out on. It’s a great way to explore Miami’s rich cultural scene while contributing to a wonderful cause. Porsche Design Tower Will Be Home to Nearly 2 Percent of the World’s Billionaires

13 Jan

Porsche1The Porsche Design Tower is the latest preconstruction project helmed by car enthusiast and condo magnate, Gil Dezer, set to rise over Collins Ave on 2.2 acres of beachfront property. The Sunny Isles high-luxury $560 million tower is pushing the envelope with a revolutionary architectural design, conceptualized by German-based Porsche Design Group, featuring large glass elevators for transporting residents inside their vehicles up to their apartments. As residents arrive at the building and switch off their engines, an automatic platform will extend, scooping up the car and placing it inside the elevator. Once at the desired floor, the same platform will park the car, leaving the resident at their front door. This extravagant feature of the tower will allow residents to see their cars on display in the “sky garages” from their living rooms.

Porsche2This innovative feature has drawn in prestigious names from around the world. According to an article by The Atlantic Cities, twenty-two billionaires- just shy of two percent of the world’s total- have purchased units already. Of course, the luxury condominium will feature numerous other amenities standard to such new developments, but Gil Dezer attributes the majority of its success to the singular, opulent car elevator. “The initial success of the sales process is a true testament to the new dimension Porsche Design Residences is bringing to South Florida’s high-end real estate market,” says the president of Dezer Development. As of October, the $560 million condo had done $535 million in sales.

Porsche3The condominium is truly designed to embody ultimate luxury and afford its residents the utmost pleasures of the privileged lifestyle standard to Sunny Isles Real Estate. Rising 650 feet into the sky, the 57-story Porsche Tower will be the tallest residential tower in the United States. Some decadent features of the residences will include private swimming pools on huge terraces, outdoor kitchen and sitting areas, and private elevators opening into the apartments. Other proposed amenities include a stunning oceanfront swimming pool with a landscaped deck, two sunset plunge pools with spacious outdoor decks, resort-style food and beverage service at the pool and beach, full-service oceanview Spa and Fitness center, a recreation area with a private theater room, and much more.

Porsche4Whether they be agents or homebuyers, real-estate enthusiasts everywhere are excitedly awaiting the rise of Porsche Design Tower, slated for completion in 2016.

South Florida home prices and sales rose in September

South Florida Home Prices

BIG September:

Currently there is a shortage of inventory in Miami. Home and condominium buyers are finding a great deal of competition in the current sellers’ market.  Multiple offer scenarios are back as well as properties selling over list price.  However, there are limits and we are seeing some sellers price their properties well over comp value which has not been an effective strategy. Properties that are priced in line with current trends are selling but the properties priced well above market are becoming stagnant and buyers are taking note.

Although we may be in a sellers market, buyers have become much more informed as their access to information has dramatically improved via websites such as zillow, trulia realtor.com and floridamoves.com.

We have experienced a great deal of foreign investment here in Miami which has cleared out most of the existing inventory and the demand continues to increase. The Miami Herald recently reported a substantial rise in home prices and sales in September. There were 1,108 closings in single family homes in Miami- Dade and 1,352 closings in condominiums this past month. We are excited to see the changes in South Florida real estate market as we approach the season.

Versace! Versace! Versace!

5 Oct
The Jills recently marketed and held an auction for the sale
of Miami’s famed Versace Mansion.  On September 17, 2013
the bidding took place at the Versace property under a tent set in
front of the stunning mosaic-tiled pool lined in 24k gold.
There were three primary bidders present at the auction;
Palm Beach club owner Glenn Straubthe, Joe Nakash who is
chairman of Jordache Enterprises, and Eric Trump representing
his father Donald and the Trump brand.

20131005-003008.jpg

The energy was high as the competing bids volleyed back
and forth toward an intense last moment before Nakash
took the auction.  Going Once! Going Twice! Sold!  When the
gavel went down the entire Nakash party jumped up in celebration.
The Versace Mansion sold for an unbelievable $41.5 million dollars.
It was an epic sale that was covered all over the world.
The Versace mansion is truly a gem of a property.  As a
potential single family home, the Versace mansion sale
broke the recent Miami Beach record of Alex Rodriguez’s
$30 million dollar sale on North Bay Road.

20131005-003227.jpg

What’s next for for such an iconic property?

The Nakash family owns the Hotel Victor that is located next
door to the Versace Mansion and may turn it into a luxury
boutique hotel or high end retail.  It will be exciting to see
what they do there, hopefully they preserve the
unique character of the property while finding a new
use for it. It was truly a once in a lifetime opportunity to
participate in such a historic sale. Our team is grateful
for all of the support we have received and wish the
new owners all the very best!
In the spirit of Versace press play below!

Authentic Indian Cuisine in Sunny Isles – Copper Chimney

12 Sep

photo 2

In the corner of a Sunny Isles strip mall there is a hidden gem of authentic Indian food that should truly be on everyone’s best of Miami list. Copper Chimney is amazing, hands down the best Indian food in Miami! Copper Chimney specializes in Tandoor (clay oven) dishes. The food is spicy; the kind of spicy where your tongue is burning but you still can’t stop eating because it is so delicious. Unless you like your dishes with a lot of heat, ask for mild. We went for medium, it was almost too hot to handle but with the spice came an irresistible burst of flavor.

photo 1

Copper Chimney is family owned. The owners are gracious hosts who clearly have a lot of pride for the quality of both food and service. Bollywood movies play in the background while patrons feast on simmering dishes, succulent sauces and baskets of fresh naan. Here is a link to Copper Chimney’s menu, check it out before you go because there are over 50 delicious Indian dishes for you to choose from.

For those of you who feel that Sunny Isles is a little out of your way, there is still hope. I was told Copper Chimney plans to open a second location in Downtown Miami, which we are very excited about.

Enjoy!

Breaking News for Social Media Apps!

7 Sep

Miami Beach Blog

These last few weeks social media apps have taken large strides.  If you haven’t updated your apps recently I highly recommend that you do so ASAP.  When updating my own apps I recently noticed Yelp, Facebook and Youtube have made some big and long awaited changes.

Yelp has finally made it possible to post reviews directly from your phone, until now you could only draft reviews on your phone before having to post from a desktop.  I already use Yelp as my compass to good food this change will result in even more reviews being posted and therefore making Yelp more reliable.  With this ground breaking update I will be posting many more reviews from my iPhone about the Miami food scene.  Follow me on Yelp for advice on my favorite (or not so favorite) places in Miami.

An updated Facebook app will reveal that Facebook has adopted the concept of hash tags.  You can now use and search for hash tags to see what others are talking about in certain categories, just like Twitter and Instagram.

Frequent users of YouTube will be interested to know that the latest update allows users to continue watching videos while they search for the next video to watch.

If you didn’t know now you know.  Enjoy your awesome updates and have a good weekend!
